Appointments

Our appointment system for each of our Doctors and Nurses offers 10 minute consultation slots for acute problems (on the day) and in advance for routine matters. When making a routine appointment with a nurse, please tell reception if it is for a particular service ie: ante-natal, smear, diabetic or asthma checks etc. All our Clinicians and members of staff conduct consultations etc in English. If translation services are required please contact us in advance.

We try to very hard to answer the telephone as quickly as possible and to offer every patient the appointment they want with the clinician of their choice, however, sometimes this is not possible and for this apologise.

Our nurses are highly skilled and qualified and will often see patients requiring an “on the day” appointment.  However, our nurses are fully supported by the Doctor who is designated as “On-Call” for that day, and if necessary, the patient will be able to consult with that Doctor as well.

We also offer a walk-in service to our patients for minor injuries.  Our Health Care Assistants can not only take blood but can take blood pressures, perform ECGs as well as many other services.

Opening Hours (Including Dispensary hours)

GP+ Appointments

Suffolk GP+ is for people who urgently need a doctor's appointment or are unable to see their GP during normal GP hours.  Appointments can be made via Reception during our usual opening hours.  Please note you cannot refer yourself to this service.  The service is staff by local Suffolk GPs and Nurse Practitioners in Ipswich, Felixstowe, Stowmarket, Leiston and Wickham Market and is a NHS service delivered by the Suffolk GP Federation.

Extended Hours

We now have extended hours for pre-booked routine appointments only on Wednesday evening between 6:30 & 9:30 Please contact reception to make an appointment. Please be aware that the surgery is only open for these appointments and that normal reception services such as prescription collection will not be available during this time.

Telephone Consultations

If you feel telephone advice from the GP will eliminate the need to attend the surgery, please call reception to book this on 01473-610028. We offer three 5 minute slots at the end of each GP’s morning surgery to accommodate these calls.

Waiting Times

Obviously we try to keep waiting times to a minimum, but it may happen that a patient with a complex, time consuming problem has gone before you. Please try to bear with us when this happens and remember it may be you who needs the extra time one day.

  • surgeries will normally start on time
  • we expect patients to be seen within twenty minutes of their appointment time, and in the event of a delay we will offer an explanation
  • when a doctor is called away on an emergency we will inform the patients and give them an opportunity to book an alternative appointment, or if preferred, to be seen by another doctor
